This one started as a sketch in the 11x14 sketchbook that I just sold, done at the request of the buyer. I had such a good time drawing it, though, that I couldn't resist adding a splash of color.
great he looks badass
That's awesome! What did you use for coloring?
Just photoshop. I shaded in in my sketchbook, then scanned it in and colored on top of it.
I love how you're able to retain the look of the pencil shading along with the photoshop coloring. I think that's so awesome. I'm gonna have to learn that.
I think the trick to it is to put your dark shading layer on the bottom, with your pencil lines on top of that, and then paint your highlights on a layer above the lines. I usually end up merging the layers about halfway through, but that's the way they're set up when I start.
Wow!! Can't wait to get your sketchbook. I was the lucky winner and big fan of your work! This just made it even sweeter! Thanks again Gavin!
Thank YOU for buying it! What's your email address? I'll e-mail you the high-resolution image. If I had known that I was going to be coloring this, I would have included a print with your package, but it was a totally spur of the moment thing that came about after I'd already mailed it out.
Epic... A classic!
I really like the sleek look you gave him, Robocop seems to be so stiff often!
Thanks! I don't really care for bulky, chunky character designs, so I probably streamlined him and made him look a bit more mobile just as a reflex.
Excellent! Did you see the remake yet?
I haven't, but I heard it was pretty good.
Good old Robocop and I like the red visor just like on the action figure from the '90s the movie one had the black visor so this is cool!
