Here's yet another take on the Green Lantern costume, this time modeled by my favorite GL, John Stewart. Instead of going for an armored look like with Hal and Kyle, I went for a sleeker look with John. Instead of having the white sections glow, I completely deleted all white from his costume and made the green brightest.
Awesome one of John here
Thanks, man! I like the overall look, but I don't know if it fits John. I might take another pass at him, at some point.
I really love this redesign, the collar splitting in the middle and going down into the circle is a very subtle but stylish design.
Thanks very much! My take on Hal consistently gets more attention, but I actually kinda like this one better.
Very cool effects there!
love this, how do u achieve the glowing look?
On the green parts? That's just an area of solid white, with a green inner shadow (set to multiply) and a green outer glow (set to screen). Then I took a photo of some fire, tinted it green, and laid it over that area on a separate layer set to (I think...) overlay. The flames are just for texture, though. It will look like it's glowing before you hit that part.
Did that make sense?
Did that make sense?
fo sho, i appreciate it. when u say "set to multiply" is that a photoshop feature?
Haha, yeah, I forgot to mention that. This is all in photoshop. At the top of the "layers" palette, on the left side, there's drop down menu that is usually set to "normal". When you click on it, the menu drops down, and you can set the layer to dissolve, multiply, darken, color burn, ect.
Nice, the wisps are cool, add that touch of mystism to the piece. but I wonder what the uniform would look like with just the lantern symbol on it. in any event this looks cool, its simplistic. Effective too.
I think, at one point, he was wearing a costume that was just the lantern design, but the lantern was really big and covered his whole chest.
awesome stuff. really looks other worldly
Now I just want to see a guy, and an updated kyle with the energy green style on him
Is that all? Kidding, kidding. Those two might be coming down the pipe at some point in the future. I've never been a huge fan of Guy's look, so I would really like to re-design him at some point.
HOLY SH!T THAT'S NICE, you really should be working at DC
You should put in a word to Paul Levitz for me! Thank you so much for the kind words, and for taking the time to comment.
Both an outstanding design and illustration of it!
He has always been my favorite GL too! i love how "graphic design-y" this is!
